It's a real pain in the arse to find good quality rare Nirvana videos and live bits and pieces online. I've got wodges of webspace at my disposal so I thought I'd be nice and include a hassle-free page af huge downloads.

All video files are in MPEG format although some of them are AVIs and maybe some other sort.

Ironically, none of these links are live yet and probably never will be. If you want any of this stuff drop me a line and maybe we can swap something.

Check back soon!

Sappy (46mb)
Not sure what the story is with this. This is a 'video' for Sappy clearly put together by some fan with an impressive collection of rare footage. None of the transitions work well and the inclusion of a bowl of Kraft Macaroni and Cheese and a shot gun shell is a little boneheaded to say the least.

Territorial Pissings (22mb)
Filmed for MTV in 1992. Not all that rare but a reasonable performance

Molly's Lips (31mb)
A rare performance of a cover they rarely played from this era. Also from the MTV performance in 1992. Pretty crappy song really. Don't know what Kurt saw in that band of Losers the Vaselines.

French TV 1994 (118mb)
This is the complete performance of their 1994 appearance on some French TV show with that guy off Eurotrash. Notable for the band 'dressing up' in faggoty suits (like the Beatles perhaps?). They play Rape Me, Pennyroyal Tea and Drain You. In the latter Kurts guitar gives up and he throws it on the ground like the twatty rock-star he was at that time. He then awkwardly sings the rest of the song clearly not knowing what to do with his hands.

Amsterdam 1991 (238mb)
Brilliant show during the band's greatest era. You've probably seen a lot of this show on the Live Tonight video. Powerful performances and great sound all excellently captured. Sadly not complete as among other things it hasn't got the infamous murder of Come as you Are. But you've got that on the official video tape so what are you complaining to me for?

Münich 1994 (93.5mb)
Guff excerpt from a lousy show I'm sure. I'm only including it as it was the last ever Nirvana gig. Here we see crap clips of Radio Friendly, cover of the Cars' My Best Friends Girl and Drain You. Nothing remarkable as few of these shows were. Thankfully it's pro shot (1 camera) but the original source is probably something like 20 generations away.

Buenos Aires 1992 (607mb)
This footage (surfaced only relatively recently) finally gives us the visual accompaniment for the infamous 'Kurko' CD (Buenos Aires 10-30-92). This is the show where Kurt and the boyz were mightily pissed off at the audience of sexist homophobes (as Kurt would have probably described them as). The likely lads displayed their disdain through a fairly lacklustre run though of their more famous tunes, a few unusual set-fillers and more noticeably, a couple of false starts of 'Teen Spirit'.

The show is well captured, near complete and looks only a couple of notches down from the original master. It is very enjoyable to watch. Kurt's couldn't-care-less attitude comes across a lot better here than in the ultra-ego-fest Hollywood Rocks indulgence. It feels more naturally punk here. The extra/unusual tracks are performed well and 'Beeswax' in particular gave me a broad grin and I marvelled at just how well it was performed. Listening to the bootleg I often wondered what Dave was guffing on about 'A....E...O.... A....E...O...'. I'm still none the wiser although he was a constant source of amusement playing a tiny kid's drum kit during Polly and subsequent solo spot. Unfortunately, my copy of the gig ends after 'On a plain' which means I miss out on 'All apologies', 'Blew' and 'Endless nameless' among others. At the time of writing those tracks hadn't surfaced which is a great shame as this really is Nirvana at their punky best.

Dallas Trees Club 1991 (760mb)
This is the show where Kurt gets beaten up by some bouncer. You've all seen that part in the Live tonight video. In this, the complete show, you get to see more of what led up to the assault. After cutting out a few times spoiling Polly, Kurt smashes his beloved Fender Mustang (shown) into the soundboard several times like a complete baby midway through the set. What an ass. The bouncer owned the desk or some damn thing. I can't remember. Shot from the stage, this is quite an unusual camcorder job with some good performances.

Beehive Record Store 1991 (91.4mb)
As part of the launch campaign for Nevermind Nirvana played a problematic cut-down setlist of the time in some record store. Some chump with a camcorder standing right next to the band managed to capture the whole thing. Like all these camcorder shows the sound is awful but there are some extraordinary close-ups which is useful if you want to see Kurt's volume and tone settings on his Jaguar or the size of Dave's boogers.

Evergreen State College 1990 (60.2mb)
A weird batch of semi-professional 'music videos' recorded live with some horrendous special effects which looks ghastly even for 1990. We're treated to three Bleach tracks and a work-in-progress run-through of Lithium with different lyrics which just falls apart at the end. At the end of 'Floyd the Barber' there's the lamest EVER stage destruction. I've actually included this clip here. (QuickTime format 2.8mb).

Italian TV 1994 (55 mb)
Nirvana perform a fairly average 2-song set of Serve the Servants and Dumb. The latter being considerably underwhelming as whats-her-face's cello sounds horrendous as usual. What makes this clip interesting is the heckler/stage-invader who makes a very odd hullabaloo between songs. The scene ends surreally as the middle-aged female presenter pins the guy down as Kurt and the boys walk right by her. Italians clearly don't believe in security. (on television anyway ... piano! piano!).
